Japan eVisa for UAE Residents: The Complete 2026 Guide

Do you need a visa? Check by nationality

Your residence visa doesn’t decide this — your passport does. The UAE residence visa matters for where you can apply, not whether you need one.

Japan eVisa requirements for UAE residents

This is the checklist that decides your application. Officers check details, not effort:

• Passport — valid 6+ months beyond travel, at least 2 blank pages
• Emirates ID — front and back copy, valid
• UAE residence visa — generally should be valid 6+ months
• Photo — 4.5cm × 4.5cm, white background, taken within 6 months
• Bank statement — last 3 months, stamped by the bank, healthy closing balance
• NOC letter — from your employer stating position, salary and approved leave (business owners: trade licence instead)
• Flight reservation — a reservation, don’t purchase before approval
• Hotel bookings — covering every night of your stay
• Day-by-day itinerary — simple table of where you’ll be each day

How to apply — step by step

1. Create an account on the official JAPAN eVISA portal (the only official site — anything else charging “service fees” is a middleman).
2. Fill the application. Use your passport name exactly — a missing middle name is a real rejection reason.
3. Upload documents as clear scans. Phone photos of documents on a desk are the #1 cause of “please resubmit” delays.
4. Pay the fee online once the application is screened.
5. Receive your eVisa by email. Show it at check-in and immigration — printing a copy is wise.

Processing time & fees

• Processing: about 5–7 business days in normal periods. Before sakura season and December, allow 2–3 weeks.
• Fees: single-entry visa around AED 80–120 equivalent (set in yen, varies with exchange rate). Some nationalities pay no fee.
• Apply when? 3–4 weeks before flying is the comfortable window. The eVisa can’t be submitted more than 3 months out.

Top 5 rejection reasons (and how to avoid them)

1. Bank balance looks thin or spiky. A sudden AED 20,000 deposit a week before applying raises questions. Keep it natural; salary credits matter more than a big number.
2. NOC doesn’t match the application. Different job title or company name than what you typed = trouble. Copy the NOC wording exactly.
3. Passport validity under 6 months. Renew first, then apply.
4. Blurry or cropped documents. Scan apps (not desk photos) solve this in minutes.
5. Itinerary doesn’t match hotel bookings. If your itinerary says Kyoto on Day 4, there must be a Kyoto hotel booking for Day 4.
